World Points List freezes until the 2020 European Tour season re-commences
By Ryder Cup Europe On June 5, 2020 2:39 UTC
Following an announcement by the Board of the Official World Golf Rankings on Wednesday June 3, 2020, the OWGR points will resume with the start of the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour in the United States in the week beginning Monday June 8, 2020.
This decision means that the large majority of European-born members of the European Tour, who are not members of the PGA Tour, will only be able to earn points on the Ryder Cup World Points list once the 2020 European Tour season re-commences in July.
Therefore, in agreement with European Captain Pádraig Harrington, the European Tour Tournament Committee unanimously approved the current ‘freezing’ of this list until earliest, the week of the first European Tour event back. It means that World Ranking points gained in PGA Tour or Korn Ferry events this month and next – up until the restart of the European Tour season – will not officially count on the Ryder Cup World Points list.
