Brian Harman Approaching Top-6 in U.S. Ryder Cup Rankings after Win at Valero Texas Open

By Ryder Cup Digital On April 7, 2025 14:27 UTC

2023 U.S. Ryder Cup Team member Brian Harman improved his chances of making his second-straight U.S. Ryder Cup team with a win at the Valero Texas Open.

Harman earned 1,710 points with the win and climbed seven spots to No. 8. The current top six players are Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and J.J. Spaun. The top 6 at the conclusion of the BMW Championship will automatically qualify for the team, while Captain Keegan Bradley will have six captain's picks.

Harman went 2-2 in his debut at Marco Simone in 2023.

His victory came on the eve of The Masters, the first Major Championship of the 2025 season in which players will earn 1.5 points per $1,000 earned should they make the cut.

Despite a 3-over final round, Harman held off fellow Americans Ryan Gerard and Maverick McNealy (currently 7th in U.S. Ryder Cup rankings) to claim the win.

"I just tried really hard today to not let my emotions get out in front. As much as I wanted to think about winning and holding the trophy and calling my wife and telling her how happy I was, you don't get to do that until the job's done. Just left foot, right foot, finish the job and then you get to have fun."
