Yannik Paul reclaimed the final qualification spot on the European Points List after a tied third finish at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed on the DP World Tour.
The German leapfrogged both Victor Perez and Adrian Meronk to claim back the last qualifying spot with 1,547.89 points after rounds of 65-68-68-72 at Ulna Golf & Country Club, Stockholm, Sweden.
It would be a debut Ryder Cup appearance should Paul make Luke Donald’s European team in September at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.
The mixed event, which saw a host of Solheim Cup players in the field including Madelene Sagstrom and Anne Van Dam, was won by England’s Dale Whitnell who in turns climbs 18 places on the European Points List into 18th place with 967.89 points.
Meanwhile, two-time Ryder Cup player Tommy Fleetwood was defeated by Nick Taylor in a four-hole play-off at the RBC Canadian Open.
Rounds of 70-70-64-67 saw Fleetwood finish in a tie with home favourite Taylor who, with the scores level, drained a 72ft eagle putt at the final hole to take home the spoils.
Fellow 2018 and 2020 Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton collected his seventh top seven finish of the season after rounds of 72-64-72-64 saw him finish in a tie for third at Oakdale Golf & Country Club.

Finally, Justin Rose continued his consistent form in 2023 with a solo eighth finish in Canada. The five-time Team Europe player now sits in seventh place on the World Points List with 88.79 points.
As it stands Jon Rahm (2,910.53 points), Rory McIlroy (2,354.20 points) and Yannik Paul (1,547.89 points) sit in the three automatic qualifying spots on the European Points List, with Viktor Hovland (242.39 points), Hatton (174.01 points) and Matt Fitzpatrick (139.79 points) in the top three positions on the World Points List.
The 2023 Ryder Cup will take place between September 25 – October 1 at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Rome, Italy.
