The Road to Rome 2023 continued with the Ryder Cup trophy returning to the Eternal City for “Golf in Piazza” at the famous Villa Borghese in the heart of Rome.

More than 2,000 people visited Piazza di Siena over the weekend, designed by the architects Mario and Antonio Asprucci in 1792 and inspired by Piazza del Campo in Siena, the city where the Borghese family originated, with golf taking centre stage in the famous square.

Music and entertainment accompanied the eleven activities set up by the Federazione Italiana Golf, allowing young and old to show off their skills with the support of special instructors in front of family and friends.

Organised by the IGF and presented by the Municipality of Rome, with the support of the Lazio Region, it was the perfect backdrop to welcome Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth, President of the FIG, Franco Chimenti, and Director General of the Ryder Cup 2023 Project, Gian Paolo Montali as preparations continue ahead of the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.

Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Rome Capital and Roberto Tavani, Sport Delegate of the Lazio Region were also on hand to celebrate the Road to Rome.
