Feeding off of the largest on-site gallery since the pandemic, Brooks Koepka rode a two eagle final round 65 (-6) to victory at the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open. The win was Koepka's 8th on the PGA TOUR, but it wasn't necessarily a foregone conclusion as he came into the week missing a career-high three cuts in a row.
Koepka, 7th in the 2020 Ryder Cup standings, was in the mix on the back nine with other U.S. Team contender Xander Schauffele (4th) and 53 year-old Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker. Brooks continued to demonstrate his focus under pressure by holing a clutch eagle pitch on TPS Scottsdale's short risk-reward Par 4 17th hole to vault him into a lead he would not relinquish.
With the win, Koepka earned 1,971 points to jump four spots to 3rd in the Team U.S.A. standings while Schauffele's final round 71 and T2 added another 974.55 points to his total and kept him firmly in 4th place.
