After carding a final round 68 (-4) and near perfect tee-to-green performance, Justin Thomas wins THE PLAYERS Championship by one-shot over Lee Westwood.
Thomas began the final round in the penultimate group with Westwood three shots ahead. After a lackluster front nine 36, Thomas started the back nine with a 5-under birdie-eagle-birdie run on holes 10-12. Thomas needed to close strong and that's exactly what he did; finishing Pete Dye's famous 16-18 stretch in 1-under.
The win was Thomas' first PLAYERS Championship and his 14th career PGA TOUR victory. For the effort, Justin moves up three spots to 3rd in the Team USA Ryder Cup rankings. Despite a less than ideal final round, Bryson DeChambeau's final round 71 (-1) and T3 finish kept him firmly in the second spot.
