It’s been a long time coming, but Lucas Glover is once again a PGA TOUR Champion.
Glover finished two shots ahead of the field at the John Deere Classic, ending a winless drought that stretched more than 10 years since his last TOUR victory at the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship).
For the former Clemson grad, the moment was extra sweet as it represented his first time in the winner’s circle since the birth of his children.
“I remember that was my biggest takeaway when Tiger won his last Masters is that his kids got to see him as a champ,” Glover said. “That was a goal of mine, too.”
Goal achieved, and with the win Glover moves 23 places in this week’s ranking, up to 32nd.
Beyond Glover, the only movement within the Top 25 this week came from Kevin Na, up six spots to 21st on the heels of his T2 finish. Na’s movement bumps Kevin Kisner, Gary Woodland, Matthew Wolff and Brian Harman all down one, filling the 22-25th spots, respectively.
Speaking of former U.S. Open Champions, it was a big week for former Ryder Cup Captain and current U.S. Team Vice Captain, Jim Furyk.
Furyk picked up his first PGA TOUR Champions major victory, besting the field by three strokes at Omaha Country Club to take home the 2021 U.S. Senior Open title.
