After a tumultuous final nine holes at one of the PGA TOUR's most historic golf courses, Max Homa emerged from the pack as the winner of the Genesis Invitational following a two-hole playoff against Tony Finau. Homa, a Los Angeles native, scored his second PGA TOUR win with a par on the second playoff hole to claim victory.
Homa, the winner of the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship, was set up to finish the job in regulation after a stellar approach to the Par 4 18th hole that finished just over 3' from the flag. Despite a pressure-packed miss from makable birdie range, he still finished with a final round 66 (-5) and got it done in extra holes. Max picked up 2,511 points and made a major move in the Ryder Cup race, jumping twenty spots into 14th place.
A similar refrain from previous updates, Tony Finau continued his excellent play and cashed in on another high finish. His solo 2nd place finish earned him 1,520.55 points to move him up five spots into 6th place, the coveted final guaranteed spot on Team U.S.A. Dustin Johnson closed out the weekend at +1, but still finished with another top 10 to stretch his Ryder Cup points lead over Bryson DeChambeau to 5,500 points.
