Ryan Palmer recorded his 10th career runner-up finish on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. Palmer finished three-strokes behind champion Jon Rahm, who ran away from the field over the course of the final round. With Palmer’s second place showing, he jumped from No. 37 to No. 17 in the Ryder Cup point standings. Palmer has made a steady climb in the standings with his victory at the 2019 Zurich Classic of New Orleans and four additional top 10s as he looks to qualify for his first Ryder Cup team.
The top six in the Ryder Cup point standings, who will automatically qualify for the U.S. Team, remains unchanged following the Memorial Tournament.
Tony Finau inched closer to an automatic qualifying spot with his top 10 finish at Jack’s place, moving from No. 11 to No. 9 in the standings. Finau made his Ryder Cup debut in 2018 when Jim Furyk added him to the squad as one of his Captain’s Selections. The long hitter went 2-1-0 for the week in France. With his T10 finish at the Memorial Tournament, Luke List also made a move in the standings, climbing from No. 46 to No. 34 as he looks to catch Captain Steve Stricker’s attention and potentially earn a pick for the U.S. squad.
