Month in Review - March

Despite much of the sporting calendar postponed around the world due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many golfers are finding new ways to entertain themselves and keep their game in shape.

Here, Ryder Cup Europe takes a look back at some of the social media highlights from the month of March.

Padraig Harrington

First up is our captain, Padraig Harrington. Back home in Ireland, the four-time Ryder Cup winner has been offering fans daily tips and swing fixes.

Whether it be a slice, a hook or just simple chipping drill, Harrington has you covered.

Ryder Cup Europe’s Greatest Player

Towards the end of the month we started a poll on Twitter to determine Ryder Cup Europe’s greatest player.

16 players were selected from a panel of the golfing media, before the matches were seeded on points won as part of Team Europe

It has certainly been causing much conversation on social media, with the two-week long knockout concluding on Friday April 3.

Tyrrell triumphs in America

Despite playing in just his second event since undergoing wrist surgery at the end of 2019 – shortly after winning his second Rolex Series title at the Turkish Airlines Open – Tyrrell Hatton won the Arnold Palmer Invitational to collect his first title on the PGA Tour.

In the very same tournament, Rory McIlroy collected his seventh straight top-five finish.

March also saw the release of two more never before heard stories from Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia.

Paul Casey spoke of The 2006 Ryder Cup and how first tee strategy doesn’t allows go to plan, leaving poor Ivor Robson somewhat confused as to why they turned up to the first tee with 30 seconds to spare.

at the same Ryder Cup, Donald and Garcia talk about how Europe’s all-time leading points scorer nicknamed Donald “BMW” because he’s “the ultimate driving machine”.

Moliwood Live

The month of March also treated us to a 30-minute live show with Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari – better known as Moliwood – over on our Instagram channel.

The 2018 Ryder Cup duo, who won four points from four matches paired together, talked everything from how they’re coping with no golf, getting Frankie on the Great British Bake Off and even took questions from Thomas Bjorn and Jon Rahm.

Finally, towards the beginning of the month, we even got a sneak peek as to what The 2020 Ryder Cup venue looks like at this time of year.

It’s safe to say, the course is just as stunning with snow swept dunes in the clear blue sky.
