Breakout house music star Ben Rainey, also a keen golfer, has today created his Ryder Cup: Range Sessions playlist which includes hits from Arctic Monkeys, Jamiroquai, Luther Vandross and Reverend And The Makers.

The Hull, UK, based artist also includes his new single, and ultimate feel-good summer house anthem, Be Your Girl. The uplifting track was Ben’s first release on a major label having already gained millions of listeners globally for his independently released hits.

Be Your Girl’ is an irresistible slice of uplifting vocal house and the perfect introduction to Ben, whose infectious personality shines through his music.

Pre-gig motivation song?

Without a doubt I always listen to Heavyweight Champion Of The World by Reverend And The Makers - it always gets me going and the lyrics resonate with me! Just a lad living his dream, playing music for people!

You’re a golfer and you’ve just won the Ryder Cup, what’s the first song you put on in the team room?

I’d be blasting out Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai but it has to be the David Morales remix - it’s a classic!

First album you bought?

The first album I bought was Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not - my favourite song on there is From The Ritz To The Rubble or Dancing Shoes!

First artist you saw live?

The first artist I saw was Kaiser Chiefs, my favourite song is Ruby!

Just as the professionals prepare for the Ryder Cup, what do you do to prepare for your live shows?

Much like golfers go out on the driving range to practise and get a feel for the swing, tempo and shot shaping, I spend a few hours listening to music, going through old playlists, putting together tracks that work well together and downloading new music to get in the zone, preparation is key in all sports and jobs!

You can play golf with three pros, what’s the dream four-ball?

My first choice would be Joel Dahmen simply because after watching Full Swing I fell in love with his personality and attitude to golf. As much as I’d love to be a scratch golfer and touring the world, I got into golf because I love the social side of it. Getting out there for four hours is the best thing to switch off from music and going on golf trips with friends and creating memories, it seems like Joel and his caddie Geno Bonnalie just have fun no matter what and don’t take life too seriously.

My second choice would be Tony Finau. I love his style of golf, love how family proud he is and how funny he is on social media. Like I said, I play golf for the fun side of things so I’d have to be in a four-ball full of good banter!

I’m sure the third comes as no surprise, the G.O.A.T. himself, Tiger Woods. If you’re giving me the opportunity for my dream four-ball it simply has to include Tiger. He’s the first golfer I started watching and admiring even when I was young and didn’t take golf very seriously. I would always follow his scores and tournament progress. I’d love to just watch him shape shots for fun and sadly realise I’ll never be anywhere near his ability!

A song that means something to you and why?

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much - it was my mum and dad’s wedding song and nearly 30 years later they’re still going strong. It’s just one of them songs I grew up listening to and brings so many happy memories. I also manage to sneak it into a lot of my shows and even the younger generation know and love it! Timeless!

Road trip song?

A song called Disco Yes by Tom Misch. It’s a feel-good, disco infused banger that gets you drumming away on the dashboard or steering wheel!

Guilty Pleasure?

Michael Jackson - Dont Stop ‘Til You Get Enough - if you had a camera in my bathroom you’d see my performance of this every morning in the shower! Absolute classic guilty pleasure!

Tell us a bit about the Range Sessions playlist you've chosen?

The playlist is a mix of my own tracks and some tracks I’m digging at the minute. My style of music is feel-good, piano house & dance music, ibiza classics & old-school bangers.

I’ve thrown a couple of classics in there to get people going and head nodding along!

Can you tell us a bit about your new music?

My latest track is called Be Your Girl which is featured in the playlist. It’s out on EMI Records, my first release on a major record label and a massive moment for me in my career. The closest way I could describe it to golf is like a top amateur finally getting your Tour card, and competing on the biggest stage.

When will you next be touring / playing live?

I’ve just got back from a headline show in Mallorca, Spain, which was insane..=

I’m currently working on shows for September onwards such as a Freshers tour when students go back to university in the UK. They are always wild!

I also have a gig coming up in O Beach Club, Ibiza!
