Italian Capital of Culture 2023 and, for two days, Capital of golf as we head closer to the Ryder Cup in Rome. Bergamo and Brescia, on Saturday 1 April along the Sentierone and Sunday 2 in Piazza della Vittoria, from 10:00 to 18:00 was the protagonist cities of "Golf in Piazza", the second 2023 event of the "Road to Rome". The Ryder Cup trophy, an increasingly popular icon, was available for photos and selfies.
“Golf in Piazza” will first visit Bergamo before moving onto Brescia - There are less than six months to go until Europe and the USA go head-to-head - which for the first time in its near Century-old history will be played in Italy, at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio (Rome), from 29 September to 1 October. This time, Golf in Piazza visits Lombardy, a region with a great golfing tradition. The aim is to bring more and more people closer to an inclusive sport for everyone, as part of an educational and engaging discipline. And in regards to the 2023 Ryder Cup Project which has the enhancement of the territory - from North to South - and of tourism among its essential points.
Thirteen test stations and lots of fun in a family-sized event, for everyone - Il Sentierone and Piazza della Vittoria transformed themselves into a "green". Thirteen test stations with many contests - but also animation and music activities - which allowed anyone to show off their skills with the support of special instructors. For family-sized entertainment, between sport, promotion and solidarity.
Many personalities from the world of sport and beyond turned up to the event. Starting with Costantino Rocca, who is one of the pioneers of Italian golf and the first Italian to play in the Ryder Cup in 1993, followed by appearances in 1995 and 1997.
Sport and prevention – Not just golf. In Brescia there was also space for prevention thanks to the presence of Komen Italia - an association at the forefront of the fight against breast cancer and Charity Partner of the FIG "Golf è Donna" project - which aims to promote prevention and focus attention on the health of women through the adoption of healthy lifestyles which also include proper nutrition and sporting activity.
