Tied in match two
A routine par wins the hole for the U.S. after Åberg finds the rough and Hovland leaves his chip in there.

Åberg's chip for a half lipped out and the match is back to a tie - gutsy stuff from Homa and Harman.
Hatton and Rahm 2 UP
Both teams drive over the back of the par-four fifth but Hatton produces the tidier chip and Rahm holes his four-footer for birdie. He was stood over it for a long time, though. Even these guys feel the pressure in the Ryder Cup.
The U.S. get one back!
A Hovland chip to concession range puts the pressure on Homa but this man doesn't know the meaning of the word.

He drains one from 28 feet and gets a first win of the week - Europe's lead is cut to one in match two.
Another missed chance
Now it's Scheffler's turn to miss a seven-footer at the fourth. He looks utterly bemused by it but that is a half.
We are fully under way
The final group tee off and that huge grandstand empties.

Both McIlroy and Cantlay are inches from being perfect but in the rough.
Missed chance
A messy opener from both sides but Fowler misses a seven-footer for par and that stays Tied.
Hovland and Åberg are flying
The Norwegian makes up for his poor approach with a clutch putt on the second.

The visitors cannot get up and down from the sand and Europe are 2 UP.
More blue on the board
Rahm curls in from off the green on the third for birdie and that is a European win after Burns came up well short and left Scheffler a tricky chip.

Early home momentum but it is very, very early.
Missed greens
In match two on the second and match three on the first - neither second shot finds the green.

Maybe there are some nerves out there.
